Adan Canales of Alice fired two solid rounds to win the Pan American Golf Association South Texas Classic at the Alice Municipal Golf Course Sunday.

Adan Canales of Alice fired two solid rounds to win the Pan American Golf Association South Texas Classic at the Alice Municipal Golf Course Sunday.

Canales, who coaches Alice High School’s golf program, shot a 69 in the first round and a 67 in the second round to win the tournament’s Championship Flight. Jesse Sanchez was second with a 74 and 70. George Fuentes also shot a 74 and 70 and took second.

The annual tournament, which is played around South Texas, included golfers from Alice, Harlingen, Brownsville, Kingsville, Brazoria County and Corpus Christi.

Saul Gonzalez won the First Flight with scores of 79 and 67. Frank Lugo was second with a 78 and 67. Leo Camarillo had an 80 and 68 to take third.

In the Second Flight, Jason Kress took first with scores of 83 and 68. Tim Guerrero was second with a 83 and 70. Jase Badillo was third with an 84 and 71.

David Reyes won the Third Flight with an 84 and 66. Chris Sanchez was second with a 90 and 72. Daniel Barcenas was third with scores of 92 and 73.
