Fermin S. Perez Sr., 66, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at his residence in Beeville, Texas. He was born in Freer, Texas on November 4, 1948 to his parents, Leocardio Perez and Ramona Saenz. He was a Veteran and served in the US Marine Corps. from 1968 – 1971 and fought in the Vietnam war and was awarded the purple heart and three other medals. Fermin enjoyed mechanical work, carpentry, being outdoors, playing pool, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leocardio Perez; his son, Fermin Perez Jr.; and a brother, Santiago Cano.
Fermin is survived by his mother, Ramona Cano of Freer, Texas; three daughters, Korina Perez of Beeville, Texas, Deolores Perez of Beeville, Texas, Ramona Perez Barrientos (Christopher) of Spring Branch, Texas; seven brothers, Fidel (Idolina) Perez of Freer, Texas, Fernando Perez of San Antonio, Texas, Noel (Gracie) Cano, Osvaldo (Ludy) Cano Jr., Efrain Cano, Hector (Sandra) Cano, all of Freer, Texas, Javier (Jessica) Cano of Winne, Arkansas; one sister, Jesusa (Juan) Trevino of Freer, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front Street, Alice, Texas, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas.
