A student at San Diego High School hit his head on a desk after he was startled in class on Friday, Oct. 2.
The 14-year-old student fell asleep at his desk during a film when the principal "shook" the desk. He hit his head on another students desk, according to officials.
The San Diego Independent School District and the Duval County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident, but came to the conclusion that there was no malicious intent by the principal.
"There are no criminal charges pending on any school staff," said San Diego Superintendent Dr. Sam Bueno via email. "I assure you that the school district has investigated this incident and has followed appropriate protocol. There are no pending reassignments."
The principal was on paid leave until the investigation was complete.
The parents of the student are not pursing any charges against the principal or the district.
