Bernardo Suriz, 85, passed away September 18, 2015 in Alice, Texas. He was born August 20, 1930 in Cuba. He was a Cuban Exile and a survivor of the Bay of Pigs in 1962. Bernardo was an advisor to President Reagan and President Bush and had been invited to the White House by President Ronald Reagan, President George Bush Sr., President George Bush Jr., and President Bill Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bienvenido and Estrella Suriz; brothers, Pedro and Nivaldo Suriz.
He is survived by his several sons, Juan Carlos Suriz of Miami, Florida, Bienvenido Fidel Suriz of Alice, Texas and Lazaro Suriz of Cuba; one daughter, Amy Estrella Suriz (Daniel Vela) of Alice, Texas; numerous grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. A Holy Rosary followed by a funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. Services to conclude in the chapel following the services.
