A new small business held their grand ceremony Wednesday afternoon as customers shopped and rain poured outside.

Clutch and Such Handbags has a variety of women's purses to fit any style at an affordable price, said owner Aaron Hinojosa.

With family, friends and the community members Hinojosa officially welcomed people from Alice and surrounding communities to his business.

“I wanted to open a business. I've been selling things since I was 13,” he said. “I'd go shopping with my mom and saw there wasn't a big selection of nice purses.”

The small shop has been open since August. Hinojosa has been advertising his business through social media to get his business going.

Marissa Garcia and her coworker saw a Facebook post about the ceremony at the new business. They decided to spend part of their lunch hour at Clutch and Such Handbags.

“We work in the area and I like to shop,” Garcia said. “It's something new and local.”

Garcia purchased a wallet and stated she would be back.

“New shipments are coming in and we have a lot of merchandise that we haven't put out,” Hinojosa said. “We will be adding more storage to hold more products.”

Hinojosa has a catalog that potential customers can order from if they can not shop at the store. “I'll ship merchandise anywhere if necessary,” he said. “However I can help the customer.”

The business is open Monday through Saturday at 1005 East Main Street.

“We are trying to provide the most variety of items at afford prices,” Hinojosa said. “We want people to shop locally and keep our economy going.”
