Two individuals were arrested Thursday morning on the 600 block of Woodlawn after a routine traffic stop.
Alice Police Officer Julian Cavazos was on patrol when he observed a 2002 tan Ford Explorer and conducted the traffic stop. The driver, Jimmy Alaniz stepped out of the vehicle and gave the officer consent for a vehicle search.
The officer walked to the passenger side of the vehicle due to a woman in the front seat. However, before Cavazos could open the door he saw a clear plastic bag with marijuana on the ground, report stated.
Samantha Lopez exited the vehicle. Alaniz and Lopez were arrested and transported to the JWC jail. They were charged with possession of marijuana.
On Wednesday afternoon, Officer Orlando Jasso responded to the 1100 block of East Main Street in reference to a theft.
The officer made contact with Anita Kassandra Lichtenberger who was carrying two large bags with stolen items. Lichtenberger removed a coin purser from her right pant pocket and showed Jasso a clear plastic bag with a black tar substance. According to the report, she told Jasso the substance was heroine.
Further investigation revealed Lichtenberger stole $228.27 worth of merchandise. A warrant check revealed warrants from Alice PD, Duval and Kleberg Counties.
She was transported to the jail for the warrants. She was charged with theft over $50 under $500 and possession of a controlled substance.
