A 27-year-old man plead guilty Thursday to probation on a sexual assault case involving a minor.

Justin Lee Franco of Alice with his lawyer's advise took Assistant District Attorney Yvonne Gonzalez-Tourilles deal that included probation and some jail time.

In 2014, a 16-year-old girl informed family that she had engaged in sexual contact with a male bus driver for the Alice Independent School District.

During the investigation, details were discovered that Franco had texted the victim sexually explicit messages. Further details were discovered to corroborate the victim's statement that she had sexual contact with the suspect.

Detectives conducted interviews, reviewed phone records and video evidence prior to obtaining the arrest warrant for Franco. He was arrested at the Alice ISD bus barn.

Had Franco gone to trail he could have received between two and 20 years in a state prison. However, Franco received 90 days in jail, 10 years probation and be a registered sex offender for life.

“We felt this was an appropriate sentence for this case,” Gonzalez-Tourilles stated. “I was satisfied and so was the victim and her family.”

Franco was immediately arrested and taken to the Jim Wells County jail to start his 90 days.
