Farah Mae Mrazek, 94, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her home in Alice, Texas. She was born on July 21, 1920 to Frank H. and Mathilda Hoelscher in Rowena, Texas.
The family moved to Alice in 1936. Farah Mae graduated from William Adams High School in 1937 and attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas, graduating with a degree in Primary and Secondary Education. She taught in the Alice Independent School District for 31 years before her retirement. She taught at Saenz Elementary School, Memorial Middle School, Dubose Middle School, and taught Special Education.
She was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Texas State Teachers Association, Retired Teacher Association, and the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She especially enjoyed being with family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and dominos, fishing, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Milton Frank and his wife Mary Hoelscher; former husband, Alvin Mrazek, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Jim Keliehor, Josie and Ely Hayden, Margaret Nugent, J. C. Mrazek, Jr., A. D. Godfrey, Shirley and Benny Brandt; nephews, Ralph Hoelscher, John Keliehor, Billy Keliehor, niece Debbie Canales, and great-nephew, Andrew Davis.
She is survived by her son, Alvin Mrazek, Jr. of Alice; daughter, Elizabeth Sanders (Raymond) of Alice; grandchildren, Lee Mitchell (Chelita) of Weatherford, Scott Mitchel (Jana) of Seadrift, Jolene Sears (William) of College Station, Kelley Wise (Billy) of Lexington, Kentucky, Scott Sanders (Judy) of Leander, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alex Nugent, Sylvia Mrazek, and Jennie Lee Godfrey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
