Concepcion residents received a new flag during a flag raising ceremony on Thursday, July 2 for their civic center.
Duval County officials and Concepcion residents gathered for the long awaited symbol of freedom and liberty in America to be raised and fly in front of the civic center.
The flag was raised by Richard Stillman and Sylvia Munoz.
“It's been two years since there's been a flag in front of this civic center,” said Duval County Judge Ricardo Carrillo. “The community expressed the desire and a need for a flag.”
“Remember the whole purse of the flag.”
The civic center gives residents like Herminia Bazan a place to go and visit with her peers.
The ceremony ended with a Yolanda Salinas singing “Proud to be an American” by Lee Greenwood and refreshments.
