In response to the public's request for more information on inmates at the Jim Wells County jail the sheriff's department has made some changes in their system, according to sheriff officials.

Now, a website link is available free of charge to anyone to view the jail's inmate roster. The public can access the website to get information on individuals who have been booked into the jail, according to sheriff officials.

“Anybody, anybody can inquire about individuals in our custody,” said Sheriff Oscar Lopez. “We are still here to help with information however, this system give people the opportunity to find information even when we are unavailable.

To access the information, people can log onto the department's website at

The website is automatically updated as people are booked or released into the system.

Once the individual is released from the jail their information and mugshot are no longer available through the website. The last person to be arrested is the first person seen. The website shows the person's mugshot, bond amount, arresting agency and date of birth. Individuals in the system can be searched by name or date of birth.

“We encourage anyone who wants this type of information to use the service available,” said Chief Deputy Louie Valadez.

The system works best with Chrome which can be downloaded to iPhone user for free. Any desktop and laptop with internet access can look up the information easily.

“This is not an app,” Valadez stated. “It will help the public with information.”

The JWC website is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
