South Texas Independent School Districtís (STISD) South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy (BETA) in Edinburg held its 2015 commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 7, at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo.

BETAís Class of 2015 consisted of 144 graduates. Of the 144 graduates, 53 students graduated as distinguished, 45 as part of the National Honor Society and 42 as International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma candidates.

Leading the BETA class of 2015 was valedictorian Sonal Jha of Edinburg and salutatorian Jorge Vidal of McAllen. Jha will be a part of the first class at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she will pursue her studies in pre-medical science. Vidal will attend Texas A&M University in College Station and major in computer engineering.

BETA is a tuition-free, public, magnet high school offering specialized studies in the fields of business, education, and technology.
