A two vehicle collision claimed the life of a 26-year-old Alice man five miles east of Benavides Thursday morning, according to Department of Safety Trooper Charlie Ramirez.
Manuel Soliz Jr. was traveling eastbound in a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis on Farm-to-Market 2295 when he entered the westbound lane for an unknown reason, Ramirez said.
Soliz hit a 2008 pickup truck driven by Patrick John Hannom, 43, of Kingsville and his passenger, 49-year-old Francisco Cervantes of Kingsville.
Soliz was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Ramirez.
Hannom and Cervantes were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The family has been notified and the incident is under investigation.
