Several clusters of showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain continue across South Texas late Wednesday morning.

Several flash flood warnings are currently in effect over Duval and McMullen Counties. Additional clusters of storms are expected to form just east of the I-35 corridor later this morning and early afternoon and will sweep eastward across the region this afternoon. Increasing instability and wind shear will result in a few severe storms with isolated tornadoes.

Locally heavy rain and flash flooding is also highly probable due to already saturated soil conditions and swollen creeks, streams and drainage ditches. These heavy rains will also aggravate existing flooding that is ongoing in some communities.
