Hinovations Art Gallery announces its First Annual “Postcard Art for Hinovations” international art exhibition. Opening date is Friday, May 1 from 6 pm – 9pm at Hinovations Art Gallery located at 1009 Laurel Ave, McAllen, right off of North 10th St. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
Postcard Art for Hinovations is a collective of postcard size original works of art created by regional, statewide and international artists in a collaboration to raise funds for Hinovations Art Gallery Summer Art Camps for Kids. Postcards ranging in all media and in a variety of themes have been arriving in support of the campaign and will be for sale at an affordable price. The exhibit is accompanied by a two women art exhibition; Gaby Rico with her whimsical exhibit “I See Pink Gorillas in My Spare Time” and Raquel Hinojosa with an energetic charcoal drawing collection titled “For the First Time”. The gallery is also pleased to announce a poetry reading by local writers while at the same time Rico and Hinojosa join in with a Live Painting Performance. “To listen to a poet read a new poem with passion, flair and insight is a stirring experience and to pair it with art is taking to another level”, said Gallery Director Raquel Hinojosa. “Poetry readings are particularly moving, filled with thrills of discovery, of invention and an urgency not to be missed.” Some of the participating poets include Rossy Evelin Lima Padilla, Raquel Lopez, Dr Edna Ochoa, Chris Carmona, and Isaac Chavarria among others. The reading and art performance will take place from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
The Postcards exhibit will remain on display from May 1 to August 21, 2015. Artists wishing to participate may request Call for Artwork Prospectus to review criteria and exhibit their work.
