Santos Charles Jr. entered eternal rest on Thursday April 9, 2015 at his residence. Born on March 25, 1941 in Palito Blanco, Texas, he had lived in Alice, Texas most of his life. He was a Vietnam Veteran and had served in the Air Force and army for thirteen years. After leaving the military, he worked as sheriff deputy in Alma, Mich., as a city Police officer in Alice, Texas and as a police Chief in Freer, Texas and La Feria, Texas. He later worked for Woodman’s of the World insurance company and KUKA Radio Station.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nelda Canales Charles, one son Roel Canales, granddaughter Destinee Garcia, his parents Santos and Sofia Charles, Sisters ofelia and Linda Charles and brothers Gary and Reynaldo Charles and a special Niece Noemi( Mimi) Charles- Coburn.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters Yvonne (Anthony) Vincent, San Diego, Ca. and Cynthia Garcia of Alice, Texas. Four sons Steven Charles Albuquerque, New Mexico, Orlando Javier Charles, Alice, Texas, Mark Anthony Charles ( Noemi) of Cerrito, California, and Michael Charles of Austin, Texas Three sisters Marcolfa Rangel, Estella Nava Alice, Texas and Lole Charles, San Antonio, Texas, one Brother Jose ( Nancy ) Charles, Edinburg, Texas, Twelve Grandchildren, Three Great grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday April 13, 2015 At 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at the Nava family cemetery with Military honors.
