Hector J. Gonzalez, 63, passed away at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served his country in the Army. Hector was retired from Union Pacific. He was the life of a party and enjoyed fishing, western movies, bar-b-cueing and the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Leonor N. Gonzalez; one son, Mario Javier Gonzalez; great-granddaughter, Miah Gonzalez; one nephew, Michael James Gonzalez; his in laws, Eugenio and Guadalupe Hinojosa.
He is survived by his wife, Selma H. Gonzalez of Tecolote Community, five sons, Albert (Marina) Gonzalez of Tecolote, Andres (Vicky) Perez of Alice, Robert (Elvisa) Gonzalez of Alice, David Lee Gonzalez of Alice, Tony Trevino III of Tecolote Community; two daughters, Elisa (Erik) Guerra of Alice, Emma Lupita Guerra of Alice; three brothers, Jose (Rosie) Gonzalez and Luis (Maria) Gonzalez of Alice and Danny (Sylvia) Gonzalez of San Antonio; sister, Thelma (Roel) Lopez of Alice; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2015, at 5 to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday April 2, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Tony Trevino III. Pallbearers will be Albert Gonzalez, David Lee Gonzalez, Louie Gonzalez, Roel Trigo, Albert Gonzalez Jr. and Andres Lopez.
