EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested a man with ties to the 18th Street gang and a convicted felon in the last 48 hours.

Agents assigned to the Weslaco Border Patrol Station apprehended a Guatemalan national near Hidalgo on Sunday morning.  During processing, records checks revealed that the man had been convicted in Connecticut for felony sexual assault and sentenced to two years confinement. 

Then on Monday morning, agents apprehended a man, who is an El Salvadoran national. During processing he admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Both cases were forwarded for prosecution.
