Robert Lee Lopez was arrested Wednesday afternoon for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Officer Isaac Salinas witnessed a red Chevrolet Cobalt stop at a stop sign at Encinal and South Johnson, but failed to indicate a right turn. Salinas activated his lights however, Lopez made no attempt to stop. Lopez eventually came to a stop on the 600 block of South Highway Johnson.
As Salinas spoke with Lopez he detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana, report stated. He was also speaking slow and fumbled with his identification. According to the report, while Lopez pulled out his I.D. Salinas could see a large amount of cash, total of $713, in small bills. He stated the money was from a savings.
Lopez told the officer he had a AR-15 Pistol in the vehicle. He gave Salinas consent to search the vehicle who discovered a red metal container containing two Xanax pills, one closed green plastic bag and one open plastic bag with the word “Klimax” printed on them. Klimax is synthetic marijuana.
He was transported to the Jim Wells County jail.
