Two men were arrested Sunday night after they allegedly assaulted another man in the Chevron Food Mart parking lot located in the 600 block of S. Highway 281.
According to the report, at 11:37 p.m. Sunday Officer Jose Gonzales III was dispatched to the Chevron Food Mart in reference to a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, the officer stopped a vehicle driving out of the parking lot and spoke with the passenger, identified as Eligio Jose Luna, and the driver, Rosa Olivia Casas.
According to the report, both Luna and Casas told Gonzales that Luna had been attacked by two men in the parking lot. Assisting Cpl. Juan Charles made contact with a store clerk who witnessed the assault.
The witness verified that two men, later identified as Mario Luis Guerra and Michael Ray Guerra, assaulted Luna in the parking lot. Rosas told police she tried to break it up but was punched in the face by Mario Guerra in the process.
Both men were placed under arrest for assault causing bodily injury and transported to the Jim Wells County jail by Officer Andrew Kawamura where they were booked, fingerprinted and incarcerated.
