ALICE, Texas – Guadalupe Gonzalez, 85, passed away surrounded by his family on May 28, 2008, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was an Army Veteran and served in W.W. II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and patriot. After 30 years as owner of Lupe’s Grinding & Bit Service, he retired to enjoy his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Augustina Martinez Gonzalez; one daughter, Dolores Gonzalez; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Sarita C. Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; two sons, Jose Guadalupe (Annabelle) Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Ruben (Ercilia) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; three daughters, Cynthia (Gerald) Huber of Floresville, Texas, Diana E. (John) Tudyk of San Antonio, Texas, and Graciela (Noel Omar) Cantu of Alice, Texas; 11 grandchildren, one great- grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice with a Rosary that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and burial will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery with Military graveside services by the local United Veteran’s Burial Association.
