When he’s not racing through “would-be tacklers” or “laying the wood” in an open field tackle, Alice Coyote Varsity football player, #28 Hayden Trejo is showing the goodness in humanity. He marched to the tune of his own heart when he stepped up to help move band props to and from the UIL Regional Marching Contest competition Saturday, Oct. 19.
Trejo gave up his afternoon to answer the band’s call for assistance in transporting this year’s show props to Gregory-Portland. His parents Gus and Christine Trejo did not hesitate to let their son make sure there were no un-met needs for the school’s band, who’s a big part of the football team’s friday night lights.
Time was an issue when the band needed an available large, enclosed trailer because they did not have a second box truck to transport all of their props. The band was able to transport the majority of their props, but not all were, until the Trejo family made the difference.
At the end of the day, the number one band in Coyote Land earned straight ONES from the judges advancing to the Area Marching contest in Cedar Park, Texas on Oct.26. There they will be competing for an opportunity to advance to the State Marching Contest.
