Juan Sanchez Jr., age 89, passed away May 5, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born in San Diego, Texas on April 26, 1933 to Juan Sanchez Sr. and Francisca Rodriguez Sanchez. Juan served in the United States Army. He was a baker, carpenter and ended his career as a painter. He enjoyed making his family treats and was known for his delicious empanadas. He also enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and reading any material of current events and his bible. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Sanchez Sr. and Francisca Rodriguez Sanchez; brothers, Santiago Sanchez, Marcos Sanchez, and Pedro Sanchez; and son-in-law, Robert Garcia.

Juan is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maria Elena “Nena” Sanchez of Alice; children, Juan Sanchez III (Thelma), Rosie Garcia, Jose Oscar Sanchez (Janie) and Elsa Martinez all of Alice; 11 grandchildren, J.D. Sanchez (Lori), Justin Sanchez, Nola Robinson (Ruben), Samuel Garcia (Gabrielle), Jon Michael Garcia (Bianca), Isaac Garcia (Jessica), Jose Oscar Sanchez Jr., Melissa Gomez (Fred), Tyler Martinez, Jared Martinez, and Luke Martinez; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family ask that you keep them in your prayers throughout the services and their time of grief, to stay safe and healthy. Family is reserving the services of attendance for immediate family members only and all services will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. A holy rosary will be recited that same day at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.
