The Alice Coyotes secured an impressive 11-1 victory over Miller on Friday night, April 4 notching their seventh win in District 29-5A play. This crucial win propelled the Coyotes (10-11-1) (5-4) into the 4th seed in the district standings, keeping them in the playoff hunt as they prepare for their toughest stretch of the season.
The game was put away early as Alice exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning, effectively setting the tone for the rest of the game. Key contributors to the offensive onslaught included Ale Asevedo, Emede Lozano, Landon Castillo, Maddex Carrillo, Jeremy Gonzalez, Aaron Smithwick, Arnold Manrique, and Alvaro Tunchez, all crossing home plate to put up the decisive runs.
“We came out aggressive and took control early in the game,” said Coach. “It was great to see everyone contribute and play with such energy and focus.”
With the win, the Coyotes now turn their attention to the critical upcoming games against Ray, Flour Bluff, and GP. These next three matchups will determine the Coyotes’ playoff future, with every game carrying immense importance.
On Tuesday, April 8 at 8pm, the Coyotes will face off against CC Ray (13-9) (7-3) at Cabaniss Field, looking to build on this momentum and continue their playoff push. The Coyotes took the win 1-0 in their first meeting back on March 12.
