There were 28 Mariachi bands representing 5A and 6A in the state of Texas at the Seguin High School’s Performing Arts Center Friday, Feb. 21.
For Alice High School Mariachi Coyote, this marked their first trip ever to this prestigious competition in school history and under the direction of Juan Carlos Gonzalez.
The group of 36 students took center stage at 1:45pm and put on a powerful performance that earned them an overall 2 rating. According to the UIL Music Scoring Rubric, a 2 is defined as an excellent rating.
These talented students work incredibly hard, and their dedication is a tremendous honor to the program since its inception back in 2020 at Alice High School.
