Premont Early College High School welcomed a special guest on Thursday morning, October 2, as Dr. Robert Vela, President of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, spoke to the school’s first-year students.

The students had the unique opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Vela about higher education, leadership, and the importance of embracing opportunities for growth. His visit offered valuable insights for students beginning their journey in dual enrollment and preparing for college-level coursework.

Students expressed their gratitude for the experience, thanking Dr. Vela and the TAMUK Dual Enrollment Department for taking the time to share knowledge and inspire them. Faculty and staff emphasized that moments like these provide early encouragement and motivation for students pursuing higher education.

According to reports, the students were truly engaged and inspired. It’s not every day that you get to hear from a university president, and it left a lasting impression on all of them.

Premont ECHS continues to focus on creating meaningful opportunities for students, helping them prepare academically and personally for their future educational paths.
