Saturday, August 9, 2025 was a day of smiles, wagging tails, and community connection as Rancho Alegre residents gathered for Family Fun Day at the West Alice Youth Center, 1634 Rosario Street.
The free event, held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., was hosted by PAAC (People Assisting Animal Control) in partnership with PetSmart Charities’ Pet Care Access Initiative. Families enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and drinks, while picking up free pet food and supplies.

It wasn’t just about fun—it was also about awareness. Guests learned about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay and neuter services to help control pet overpopulation. Precinct 1 County Commissioner George Aguilar emphasized the value of the event:
“These services for maintaining your pet’s life are a must for pet lovers. It’s important to be in the know about spay/neuter to decrease pet overpopulation and educate the public on proper pet responsibility.”
The day gave residents the chance to connect with neighbors, support their pets, and learn about the programs PAAC offers to help local families and their furry companions.
It was a great mix of fun, food, and meaningful community outreach—proving once again that caring for pets brings people closer together.
