The South Texas Cattlemen’s Roundup drew a fantastic crowd on Tuesday, July 15, as supporters gathered at the Gulf Coast Livestock Auction 3015 S. US Highway 281 in Alice at 11 a.m. for a heartwarming day of giving. Originally scheduled for July 9 but postponed due to inclement weather, the event came back stronger than ever, with all proceeds benefiting Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
This year’s Roundup featured a wide variety of auction items, including homemade baked goods, handcrafted items, arts and crafts, and farm and ranch supplies—all generously donated by local families, businesses, and children’s healthcare supporters. Donations were dropped off at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office or coordinated via email with event coordinator Teresa Lopez.

According to organizers, the Roundup continues to grow year after year, thanks to the unwavering support of the community. “The people showed up—whether by donating, bidding, or simply spreading the word,” said Jim Wells County Extension Agent, Rogelio Mercado. “That continued support makes this one of the region’s most impactful grassroots fundraisers for children’s healthcare.”
With a strong turnout and spirited generosity, the South Texas community once again proved its commitment to supporting young patients and their families—making the Roundup not just an auction, but a powerful show of local heart.
