A spirit of compassion and community was on full display Tuesday morning, May 27, as the Coastal Bend Food Bank partnered with SAME Ministry for a drive-thru food distribution event at the KC Hall parking lot, 1050 Cecilia Street.
Cars began lining up early, with families from across the area seeking essential food items — a clear reminder of the ongoing need and the power of local outreach.
Olga Acuña, Pastor of SAME Ministry in Alice, helped coordinate the event, working closely with the food bank to ensure everything ran smoothly. With the help of dedicated volunteers, stations were set up to sort and distribute fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, and bottled water. Volunteers not only prepared the packages but also personally delivered them to each vehicle, ensuring families were served quickly and with care.
“This is about more than just food,” Acuña said. “It’s about showing people they’re not alone, that their community is here to support them.”
Events like these are vital for many local families and are made possible through collaboration, service, and heart. A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers, organizers, and supporters who made this effort possible from Pastor Acuna.
