It’s a proud moment for Agua Dulce as three standout student-athletes punched their tickets to the UIL State Championships, each excelling in their respective sports and bringing pride to their school and community.

On Saturday, April 19, at the Area Track Meet at Kingsville’s Javelina Stadium, Kalab Castillo showed the heart of a true competitor by racing his way to a silver medal finish in the 300-meter hurdles. With sharp form, relentless focus, and a strong closing surge, Kalab secured second place, earning his spot at the state track meet in Austin. His performance capped off a season of hard work and determination—and now, the biggest stage awaits.

But track and field isn’t the only spotlight for Agua Dulce.

Ava Vajdos is also Austin-bound, but her path was carved on the golf course. With calm consistency and mental toughness, Ava has made her mark on the fairways and greens all season long. Her efforts have earned her a coveted spot at the UIL State Golf Tournament, where she’ll proudly represent Agua Dulce among the best high school golfers in Texas.

Agua Dulce is also sending more talent from the greens. John Michael Garcia is state-bound in golf after an impressive performance that earned him 4th place at regionals. Garcia’s skill, patience, and consistency helped him rise above a competitive field to secure his spot among the elite.

The achievements of these three speak volumes about the commitment of Agua Dulce’s student-athletes, coaching staff, and community support system. These athletes will now represent their school and town with pride on the state stage.

Together, Kalab, John Michael and Ava are leading the charge for Agua Dulce athletics, proving that with grit, focus, and heart, small-town talent can shine just as bright on the state stage.
