The Alice ISD Varsity Mariachi students have attained a prestigious Division 1 rating at the Texas Mariachi Directors Association (TMDA) State Mariachi Contest held at Somerset ISD Saturday, Mar. 29. This outstanding achievement highlights the dedication, hard work, and musical talent of our students.
Under the expert direction of Juan C. Gonzalez and Jose Benavides, the Alice High School Mariachi group showcased their exceptional skills and passion for mariachi music, earning the highest possible rating at this competitive state-level event.
This success didn’t come easily. The Mariachi students dedicated countless hours of practice, often staying after school and sacrificing weekends to perfect their performances. These long hours of commitment were essential in helping the group master their repertoire and perfect the fine details that made their performance stand out at the contest.
“We are extremely proud of our Mariachi students and their incredible performance,” Gonzalez. “Their achievement reflects the commitment and perseverance of both the students and their directors. This is a fantastic milestone for the Alice ISD Mariachi program, and we look forward to their continued success.”
