Amanda Friedeck wasn’t thinking about it; in fact, she was out recruiting other people to run for Alice ISD School Board Place 6, but she was told by people of the community that she would be the better fit because of her unique skills set in this area.

“We talked to some great people, my parents and husband and it kind of fell in our spot for myself and my family. So, we just took the initiative and went for it thinking positive,” said Friedeck.

She’s a 2002 Alice High School graduate and her parents are also graduates from Coyote country. Friedeck does a lot of activities with their business (Silverstar Convenience Store) to promote school, education, family and children.

“I’m really excited about this journey. It’s already been different for me, but I think it’s the right thing to do. I’m meeting new people. Our community is so diverse and so beautiful,” said Friedeck.

She currently serves on the stadium design and safety committees. She emphasizes that she’s really big on family, education and faith. The opportunity of meeting new people is such a blessing to her.

“I want them to know that I’m doing this not for myself but for them so we’ll have a voice because I will listen to them, take notes and humbly try to achieve the good solutions for all of them. One can’t do it alone so we must all work together,” Friedeck said.

She’s really big on policy.

“I’m a candidate for Doctorate in Public Policy with Liberty University. I am currently in my independent research phase and after I will defend to complete the program. My curriculum emphasis is Economic Policy. All my degree sets are like discipline, education, language and even culinary school. I’m a typical renaissance woman,” said Friedeck.

According to Friedeck all those skill sets make her a great candidate for this opportunity to show the community that you could do it all if you invest in yourself and have faith.
