The Lady Vaquero Powerlifting team finished golden once more. They are the Regional Champions for the third consecutive year and have captured the community’s heart with their golden representation.

There are five Regional Champions for their weight class that stepped it up and shattered their expectations. They are Maya Porter, Liza-Belle Garcia, Taylor Ortiz, Katelyn Mendez, and Jalynn Garcia. Overall,11 lifters are packing their bags for state March 12-15 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.

Maya Porter (242 pound plus weight class) broke the regional record for bench with a 330-pound lift; Liza-Belle Garcia (97pound with class) broke the regional record for bench with a 205-pound lift and Regional Total weight record with a total of 775 pounds; Taylor Ortiz (105-pound Weight Class) tied for regional total weight with 750 pounds.

Light Platform Best Squat and Best Overall: Liza-Belle Garcia. Heavy Platform Best Squat, Best Deadlift, and Best Overall: Jalynn Garcia.
