Alice High School’s preliminary performance at the 2025 UIL 5A Spirit State Championship in Fort Worth Friday night, Jan. 17 convinced the judges to hand the cheerleaders a well-earned ticket to the State Finals on Saturday, Jan. 18.
Qualifying to the Finals round is not an easy feat, proving what kind of athletes, these young ladies are. The Coyotes cheerleaders have worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this day and delivered a roaring performance despite the usual butterflies and excitement.
The AHS Cheer team continued making a statement in the finals making their dream come true with their hard work and placing in the top five in State 5A-DII. Out of 75 teams and in their first year in 5A, they placed the highest they have ever at the competition.
The quality performances of these girls at state are a reflection of the standards they set for themselves throughout their high school years. They are all proven leaders that exercise passion, talent and determination.
According to reports, on the competition mat there are three-minute game day style performances in three categories: Band Chant, Crowd Leading and Fight Song. From there, the scores are combined for a Cheer squad’s possible qualification to the final competition round.
Every January hundreds and hundreds of cheerleaders from around the Lonestar state make the trek to the Fort Worth Convention Center to compete.
The UIL started the championship competition back in 2016.
