The response was at the speed of light. Little Nickolas Silva from Schallert Elementary wasted little time in telling his mom what costume he wanted to wear for the school’s Character Day on Friday, Set. 13.

“I asked him last minute Thursday night what character he wanted to be on Friday, and he was quick to respond Jemus. That’s been his nickname for Jesus now for a couple of years,” said his mother Savanah Albiar. “I was hesitant at first being unsure if we wanted to do Jesus as a character, but he didn’t give me any choice or other ideas. As soon as we got home, he brought me his bible book and while pointing to an image, he told me that he could be Jesus. So, then I’m thinking what do we have around the house to make a costume like that,” she said.

Nickolas quicky gathered up a white sheet and a brown shirt and started cutting along with his mother to make the handmade project. The results were unique, and best of all, the time bonding well spent between mom and son.

“It came out pretty good and I’m glad he was excited to go to school wearing it,” Albiar said.
