S.A.M.E. Ministries and the Coastal Bend Food Bank gave away free bananas Friday at the old Salazar Elementary building located at 1028 Pierce Street in Alice.

Volunteers helped during the drive-thru food distribution where families picked up bundles of bananas without leaving their car. This made it convenient and easy for the recipients to get the fruit.

These distributions are open to the public with no ID or paperwork needed.

Fighting hunger and promoting wellness through food distribution and nutrition education is the mission of the Coastal Bend Food Bank.

In Alice and nearby, free food distribution services vary weekly/monthly.
