Graciela Lopez Gruber, 58 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Gracie was born in San Diego, Texas on November 30, 1964, to her parents, Rodolfo, and Elva Lopez. Graciela was a graduate of San Diego High School, Class of 1983, she was formerly employed at First State Bank of San Diego for 14 years. Graciela retired as a deputy clerk with Jim Wells County Clerk Office after 20 years of employment. She enjoyed spending time at her ranch with her family, having family gathering and going out to eat. Graciela was the rock of the family with a heart of gold, she touched so many lives and was an inspiration to so many other cancer warriors. She was a loving wife, and mother that will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Gracie loved going to Ariana’s softball games, swim meets and many other sporting events. Gracie also loved to ride on the back of Russel’s motorcycle enjoying the freedom of the wind. Gracie had a passion to sip on a drink while enjoying family barbeques and spending time with her cousins. Gracie strong faith in the Lord made her such a great warrior with the ability to face any battle that life threw at her. She will always be remembered for her kindness, courage, compassion, but most of all her smile while facing cancer head-on. Gracie and Russel where side by side every step of this journey while traveling to Houston, Texas every two weeks for treatment. The experiences and people Gracie met along the way was forever life changing. She brought such great hope to everyone she met. Her strong faith opened the door to Heaven where she is rejoicing with the Lord Jesus Christ and reuniting with her mom and dad. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo and Elva Lopez. Graciela is survived by her husband of 22 years of marriage, Russel Gruber of Alice, Texas; her daughter, Ariana Elise Munoz of Alice, Texas; her uncle and Godparents, Rene V. (Elma) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas; her aunts, Blanca G. Salazar of Springs Branch, Texas; Patsy B. Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas; Gracie G. Garcia of San Jose Community, Texas; Ariana’s dad, Rene Munoz of Alice, Texas; Graciela’s comfort and protective buddy, Bentley; and numerous cousins. Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Interment will follow at Antonio Lopez Family Cemetery in San Jose Community, Texas.
