Irma Vela Cavazos

Irma Vela Cavazos – 64 years of age passed away on Saturday October 29, 2022, in a San Antonio Hospital after battling numerous health complications. Irma a native of Alice resided in San Antonio Texas for the last eight years. She was born on July 26, 1958, in Alice, Texas to Guadalupe and Orfalinda B. Vela. She was a graduate of Alice High class of 1976 and attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. Irma was involved with numerous organizations which included Future Homemakers of America (serving as president her senior year), Orange Jackets, Student Council, Vocational Office Education, and Spanish club. Irma was CCD teacher for 5 years for St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Irma was employed with Uresti Senior Assistance in Kingsville, Texas. for many years. Irma is preceded in death by her parents Guadalupe and Orfalinda Vela, and one brother Guadalupe B. Vela Jr. She leaves her beloved husband of 39 years – Louis Cavazos also a native of Alice, Texas currently Residing San Antonio, Texas, one daughter Elda Marie Cavazos-Sandoval (Marco Sandoval) of San Antonio, Texas, one son Bryan Louis (Jazmin) Cavazos, 2 granddaughters Sloane Saleen Sandoval and Camila Cristina Cavazos, one brother Juan Vela of Alice, Texas, three sisters Sylvia V.

Martinez of Alice Texas, Elda (Amador) Acosta of Alice, Texas and Elsa (Andres “Andy”) Contreras of Houston, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews with beautiful memories to forever cherish. Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday November 3, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. at Rosas Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday November 4, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Roberson-Collins Cemetery.
