Julie Lynn Brandt

Julie Lynn Brandt entered eternal rest August 24, 2022, at the age of 62. She was born July 28, 1960 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to the late Paul and Joyce Okerman. She was a free spirit, always smiling and laughing and loved her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, daughter in law, sister in law and teacher. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Richard Alan Landeche; her parents, Paul and Joyce Okerman; her grandson, Nicholas Alan Brandt; in-laws Cecil and Gwen Brandt. Julie leaves behind her husband, Willie Brandt of 31 years, her daughter Kristin (Tony) Mechell, her daughter Rebecca (Scott) Stewart; grandchildren Alexis Lynn Barron, Taylor Elizabeth Barron, Tony Jayden Mechell, Mason Richard Mechell; great-grandchildren, Hensley Brandt, Brinley Brandt, Hadley Brandt, Aayden Villarreal and Aaliyah Villarreal; siblings David (Joanne) Okerman, Kathy Akerman, Paula (Bill) Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews, in laws, family members and friends. Upon Julie’s wishes, there will be no formal services as she requested everyone celebrate her life in their own way as they remember her. Texas Water Development Board approves $7M to the City of Alice for a water supply project

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $7,000,000 to the City of Alice in Jim Wells County on Thursday, Sept. 1, consisting of $4,954,000 in financing and $2,046,000 in principal forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).

Open Mic Night at the KC Hall Pavilion every Thursday

Alice native, Stephanie Cardona, will host an Open Mic Night every Thursday night at the KC Hall Pavilion for all musical genres and all ages in hopes of inspiring young musicians. Cardona’s singing talents were evident from a very young age and her passion for live music exploded when she visited the all-ages music venue “Downtown Riot” in Alice in 2004 at the age of 13.
