Jose Maria Peña Jr. “Joe”, age 74, passed away September 3, 2022 in Orange Grove, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born January 4, 1948 in Robstown, Texas to Jose Maria Peña Sr. and Anastacia Ramirez Peña. Joe proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army followed by the National Guard. His career as a truck driver paved his way to owning his own company, Peña Trucking. He was known to many for his love of manicured lawns. Joe was a family-oriented man who enjoyed the company of his family. Joe will be remembered as a humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria Peña Sr. and Anastacia Ramirez Peña; son, Marco Antonio

Peña; and six siblings. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Peña of Orange Grove; children, Maximiliano “Max” Peña (Christina) of Orange Grove, Jose Peña III of Orange, and Patricia Ann MacLoed (Matthew) of Cummings, Georgia; numerous siblings, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 beginning at 9 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove followed by a rosary at 10:15 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated and immediately follow the rosary. Burial to be at Coyote Cemetery in Orange Grove. Pallbearers will be Armando Cortinas, Patrick Perez, Roel Almaguer, Victor Peña Jr., Jesse Cortez, Marco Peña Jr., and Ruben Gonzalez.
