April Marie Fernandez 32, passed away December 19, 2021 in Alice, Texas. Born April 1, 1989, to Victor Fernandez and Esmeralda A. Rodriguez, she was the oldest of 8 siblings, an aunt, cousin and friend. She was a graduate of Alice High School, with a career in healthcare specializing in the elderly and special needs patients.
April loved music, sewing, shopping for clothes, perfumes, and beautiful bags. She was a dedicated cat mom to Bubby, Mowgli, and Bagheera. She liked spending time with family when we weren’t getting on her nerves. She was always ready to help with the holiday cooking and baking. Her birthday enchiladas will always be craved as it was truly her love that made them taste so good. She had a knack for always getting what she wanted, and never taking crap from anyone. April helped raise two of her nephews Greyson and Jax.. From being the teacher, the friend, the partner in crime, and the tia they ran to when they were sad or scared, she took on a roll in their life that will always be cherished and remembered. She was beginning to embrace her other nieces, nephews and family. Only when she was gone did we truly realize how important she was in our lives. Her memory will serve as a reminder to appreciate the small things in life as they will be the things we will crave the most when our loved ones are gone.
She was preceded in death by her mother Esmeralda A. Rodriguez, father Victor Fernandez Sr., step-sister Christy Rodriguez, uncle David H. Fernandez Sr., cousin Adan Fernandez Sr., aunts Esmeralda Fernandez, Melissa Rodriguez and paternal grandparents Jose A. and Elida C. Fernandez.
She is survived by her sisters Amy M. Rodriguez of Houston, Ashley M. Fernandez of Houston, Lilly M. Urbina (Robert Urbina) of Kingsville, brothers, Victor J. Fernandez (Maria Vasquez) of Alice, Victor Fernandez Jr of Bishop., Benjamin Fernandez of Bishop, and John Rodriguez of Houston. Her nieces, Julyssa, and Jordan, and her nephews Greyson, Jax, and Marcus. Numerous cousins, aunts and extended family.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10 am at the Alice Cemetery.
