At the most recent Jim Wells County Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, July 25, Yolanda Moran, administer for County’s ARPA, started the meeting off by announcing the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds JWC was allocated.
The City of Alice water supply from Lake Corpus Christi has fallen below 86 feet. As of Thursday, July 28, the Lake Corpus Christi water level is 85.9 feet.
AUSTIN – Senator Brian Birdwell, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Border Security, today announced that this committee would hold a field hearing in Eagle Pass, Texas on Aug. 10. This hearing would be the fourth in a series of interim meetings for the Border Security Committee, which has been closely studying the state’s return on an unprecedented financial investment in border security operations.
Alice ISD offered an array of learning opportunities for their teachers this summer. Many of the teachers took advantage of these Professional Development sessions during their summer break.
Their are four Alice Independent School District’s students whose parents are extremely proud parents as their children were selected as semi-finalists in the American Library of Poetry (ALOP). Prior to Spring Break a fifth grade group of students took the chance of a year to complete and submit original works of poetry to the ALOP, who sees hundreds of students’ entries each year from over hundreds of districts.

FREER - Duval County Sheriff Romeo Ramirez said a two-vehicle accident north of Freer on Highway 16 occurred Wednesday afternoon following a chase. Ramirez said sheriff deputies began a pursuit.
