William Billings

William Carroll Billings passed away on July 7, 2022, at the age of 79. Bill was born in Laredo, Texas in 1943 to Floyd and Norma Billings of Bruni, Texas. Attending Bruni High School, Bill met his future wife of 58 years, Lucy Diann Long. At the behest of his loving mother, Bill went on to get a B.S. from Texas A&I in Agricultural Sciences. Bill and Diann moved to Austin where Bill not only started a new job with the United States Geological Services (USGS); they also started to grow their family. After seven years of living in Austin and San Antonio, Bill, a rancher at heart, moved his family back to Bruni so he and brother Floyd could comanage the Billings Ranch. For the first few years back, he also worked at Westinghouse Uranium. Bill spent the last 47 years devoted to fulfilling a lifetime goal of helping his brothers and sisters make the family ranch a success for generations to come. Bill is preceded in death by two brothers Joseph Scott Billings and Floyd Charles Billings and one sister Elizabeth Betty Dinn. Bill is survived by his wife, Diann, and his three children Denean Billings of Comfort, TX, Will Billings (Susan) of Boerne, TX and Michael Billings of Miami, FL. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kristin Hall (Emily) of Buda, TX, Blake Billings and Brooke Billings of Boerne, TX, and his great grandchild AJ Hall-Klaerner of Buda, TX. Bill’s surviving siblings are Mary Cecil Walker of Freer, TX, Kella Figueroa of Bandera, TX, and sister-in-law Charla Billings (Floyd) of Kendalia, TX: along with several loving nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends and relatives on Friday July 15, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Freer, Texas. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Billings Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be John Morris Walker, Thomas Dinn, Floyd Billings, Trey Dinn, Darren Billings and Sledge Parker. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
