Alfonso Trevino

Alfonso Trevino, Alice, Texas 91 years of age passed away July 3rd, 2022, at DHR hospital in Edinburg, Texas. He was born December 2, 1930, in Alice, Texas. Alfonso was a graduate of Alice High School and served as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In 1965, he was B.A. graduate of Texas A&I University and in 1978 Masters graduate of Pan American University. Alfonso retired from the Texas State Commission for the blind. He later worked as the Jim Wells County Welfare Director, Executive Director to the City of Alice Housing Authority. He was a store owner and enjoyed being an insurance salesman. He also served as the Jim Wells County Democratic Chairman. Alfonso was an avid golfer, hunter, and member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fortino Trevino and Lilia Garza Trevino; his wife, Irma Lopez Trevino; daughter, Sara Alicia Trevino; his brothers, Cresencio G. Trevino and Rafael Trevino; brother-in-laws, Guillermo Lopez, Hector S. Lopez, Francisco “Paco” R Lopez; sister-in-laws, Bella Trevino, Gloria L. Lopez, and Gloria G. Lopez.

Survivors include his son, Daniel Alfonso (Kristy) Trevino; grandchildren, Kailey, Kobe, and Alejandro; sisters-in-law, Emma L. Vidaurri and Grace S. Lopez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends and relatives at 11:00 A.M. on Monday July 11, 2022, at Rosas Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel. Funeral Mass will follow and be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery with military honors by Alice United Veterans Burial Association.
