Elena G. Juarez was born on December 15, 1948, in Alice, Texas to Federico and Irene R. Garza. She passed away in Alice, Texas on June 30, 2022, after a long illness. Her children, Ercilia and Efrain were
Her children, Ercilia and Efrain were her pride and joy, as were her two grandchildren, Arielle and Gabriella Juarez. She started teaching at Salazar Elementary School and retired while working at Noonan Elementary School after over 30 years of service. Her greatest joy was to see young children blossom with knowledge while under her care. She believed in a strong foundation while introducing basic skills such as reading, writing, and math. She strived to offer students a well-rounded education, with an emphasis on superior writing skills, which she had a true passion for.
She volunteered with several civic organizations and was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice, volunteering with summer vacation programs for young students. She also volunteered with several other ministries. She was deeply rooted in her faith in God, and particular devotion to Mother Mary while reciting the Holy Rosary daily, which she saw as the best weapon for our times. As she suffered her battle with cancer, she offered her pain to the Passion of our Dear and Beloved Jesus Christ through the prayer of the Divine Mercy.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends as she walks through the pearly gates and arrives at her mansion in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Federico and Irene R. Garza; and her brother, John Garza. She is survived by her husband, Roberto Juarez; daughter, Ercilia Juarez (Alex Navarro); son, Efrain A. Juarez; granddaughters, Arielle and Gabriella Juarez; brothers, Jose (Glenda) Garza, Alfredo (Yvette) Garza, Fred Garza, Morris Garza and Ramon Garza; sisters, Janie Cortez, Jesusa (Roy) Salinas, Ana Lozano, Angelita (Valentin) Colmenero, and Adelina (Roger) Villarreal.
