On Thursday, Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa was appointed to the Senate Special Committee to Protect All Texans. The committee is charged with studying five areas: school safety, mental health, social media, police training, and firearm safety. Senator Hinojosa issued the following statement:
The Church of the Overcomer is having their first-ever Vacation Bible School this year. The church has been in Alice for about four years and weren’t able to host one.

LA LIMONERA, El Salvador (AP) — Esmeralda Domínguez was about 100 yards from home when soldiers and police blocked her on a small bridge. The authorities had waited there for hours. Dominguez, neighbors said, was the only person they stopped.
PREMONT - Premont Independent School District announced the district’s Teachers of the Year Friday afternoon. The Premont High School Teacher of the Year is Gilda Hofstetter and the Premont Elementary Teacher of the Year is Maria Moscot.

Alice High School Theatre Summer Camp for 2022 is open for registration. From now until July 1 students ages 10 to 15 can register to participate in the camp that will be held in July.
Brenda Hernandez and Dee Sanders held a training session Friday at The Premier of Alice Senior Living Center. The purpose of the training was to instruct staff and the public on how to properly stop someone from bleeding to death.
