Sylvia Ann Garza Parra, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. Sylvia was born on March 4, 1959, in San Diego, Texas to Roque and Emma (Fernandez) Garza. She grew up in Sandia, Texas on the Knolle farm. Sylvia attended Alice, Banquete, and Orange Grove schools. In those days she enjoyed being on the school’s spirit team. She married Jaime L.Gaza of Alice, Texas and had three children. They made a life together for several years in Alice. She later left Alice and for over a decade had resided in San Antonio, Texas where she made many friends. She loved gardening, crocheting, dancing and was a member of Cruz Blanca Club. Sylvia will be remembered for her contagious laughter, her big heart, her generosity and for the love she gave her family, especially her grandchildren.
Preceding Sylvia in eternal rest are her parents, Roque, and Emma Garza; her ex-husband, Jaime L. Gaza; her brothers, Pedro “Pedrito” Garza, Juan Garza Sr., Roque Garza Jr., Juan Manuel Garza, Arnoldo Garza, and Anatolio F. Salinas; a sister, Raquel (Garza) Gutierrez; a brother-in-law, Ernesto Gutierrez; and son-in-law, Oscar Bernal Jr.
Left behind to cherish wonderful memories of Sylvia are her children, Sonia Gaza Bernal, Ruben (Dolores) Gaza, and Rosemary (Andres) Gaza Perez; her grandsons, Benjamin, Ceasar, and Samuel Gaza, and Ivan, Marcos, and Christian Perez; partner in life, Pedro Moreno; brothers, Luis (Janie) Garza, Marcos (Vicky) Garza, Antonio (Gloria) Garza, Roberto Garza and George Garza; sisters, Brunilda (Geronimo) Perez, Yolanda Cantu and Mercedes Garza, Olivia (Jesus) Trevino, and Nelida Garcia; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday June 21, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. at Rosas Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. that evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 22, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Services will end at the Church after the Mass. Serving as pallbearers will be Benjamin Gaza, Ceasar Gaza, Samuel Gaza, Ruben Gaza, Ivan Perez, Marcos Perez,and Honorary Pallbearer will be Christian Perez.
