USDA to provide approximately $6 billion to Commodity and Specialty Crop Producers Impacted by 2020 and 2021 Natural Disasters

First Wave of Payments Based on Crop Insurance Data The U. S Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that commodity and specialty crop producers impacted by natural disaster events in 2020 and 2021 will soon begin receiving emergency relief payments totaling approximately $6 billion through the Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) new Emergency Relief Program (ERP) to offset crop yield and value losses.

Victor Manuel “Moose” Munoz Sr., age 62, passed away May 12, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born July 15, 1959 in Alice, Texas to Raul A. and Ella Munoz. Victor worked in the oilfield industry for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, working on vehicles, driving his tractor, riding his motorcycle, and mudding. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and eagerness to spend quality time with them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Servando Sendejo Jr., age 67, passed away May 11, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 30, 1955 in Mathis, Texas to Servando Sendejo Sr. and Manuela Torres Sendejo. Servando worked in the oilfield industry as a sales manager for 45 years. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. He took pride in his cooking. He cooked for his family and entered many cook-offs and barbecued for anyone. He was known to many for his social and joking character. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Petra R. “Patsy” Lopez, age 89, passed away May 6, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by all her family. She was born February 26, 1933 in Realitos, Texas to Abel Ramirez Sr. and Rumalda Saenz Ramirez. She was a life member of the VFW Lady Auxiliary #8621, the American Legion #186 and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching her novelas and taking her daily car rides. She enjoyed gathering and going on yearly vacations.

Nicolas Ybañez, affectionately known as “Niko” and “Puppy Dog”, passed away May 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 3, 1948 in George West, Texas to Francisco and Antonia Ybañez. He had a love for welding, hunting, gardening and watching you tube videos. Nicolas also was a veteran of the military where he served in the United States Army. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jose Arturo Vela Jr. 55, years of age passed away on April 24, 2022, in a McAllen Hospital after a sudden illness. Jose was born on November 4, 1966, in Alice, Texas to Jose Arturo Sr. and Maria Inez Gonzalez. He was an Assistant Principle at La Feria High School. Joe was a graduate of Alice High School Senior Class of 1985; he attended and obtained his Administrator Degree in Education from Texas A&I Kingsville. He was a former Kermit High School Assistant Principal in Kermit, Texas and was presently an Assistant Principal for La Feria High School in La Feria, Texas.

Guadalupe C. Rosas, age 81, passed away April 28, 2022 in Agua Dulce surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1940 in Driscoll, Texas to Crespin and San Juanita Rosas. Guadalupe had a love of barbecuing, having his adult beverages, socializing with his family, and attending dances. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
