Ricardo P. Saenz

Ricardo P. Saenz, 91 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a short illness. He was born in La Mota Ranch to his parents, Federico and Rosa Saenz. He was a devoted Catholic and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in Alice. Ricardo was retired from CP&L as a warehouse foreman after 35 years of employment and after retirement he worked as janitorial and landscaping service. He enjoyed ranching, hunting, singing, and playing the accordion while having a few Natural Lights and playing chalupa with his family. Ricardo was a distinguished member of the McDonalds Coffee Club. Ricardo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Rosa Pena Saenz; in-laws, Nestor and Cecilia Ramirez; siblings, Rafelita Lopez, Aurora Saenz, Dora Martinez, Adela Saenz, Pedro Saenz, and Reynaldo Saenz; brothers-in-law, Nestor Ramirez and Alonzo Lopez; sister-in-law, Leonila Saenz and Jovita Saenz.

Ricardo is survived by his wife of 66 years of marriage, Ramona R. Saenz of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Edna (Eliseo) Mendietta of Alice, Texas; Carmelita (Daniel) Montemayor of Alice, Texas; four sons, Ricardo Saenz Jr. of Alice, Texas; Rene (Cynthia) Saenz of San Diego, Texas; Danny (Brenda) Saenz of Robstown, Texas; Martin(Laura) Saenz of Alice, Texas; a sister, Omelia (Greg) Lopez; two sisters-in-law, Esperanza (Martin) De La Torre, Tomasita (Luis) Vidal; 22 grandchildren, Lando (Tiffany) Mendietta, Joe Mendietta, Amanda Mendietta, Ricky (Michelle) Saenz III, Leanna (AJ Pena) Saenz, Jennifer (Bryan) Bechtold, Charlynn Saenz, Cassandra Saenz, Christopher Chavera, Brandon Chavera, Codie Chavera, Marietta Saenz, Heather (Ben) Gomez, Robert (Michelle) Martinez, Richard (Lori) Gonzalez, Ryan Gonzalez, Marty (Stacy) Saenz, Mona (Abraham) Mejia, Joseph Saenz, Cecilia Saenz, Sergio Montemayor, and Ysenia Montemayor; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will be following all CDC and Government mandates and ask each guest to do so as well. We ask everyone to follow social distancing and wear masks inside the funeral home and church.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at Lopez Cemetery in San Jose Community, Texas.
