Alice teams compete at district tourney

Alice High School's freshmen and junior varsity tennis teams recently competed in the District 31-4A tournament at Tuloso-Midway High School. Some highlights included freshman Anna Teixeira winning a third-place medal and Anthony Torres placing 8th out of 20 JV tennis players. Freshman Nico Hinojosa placed 9th and freshman Robert Rodriguez was 10th. The doubles team of Benjamin Espinoza and Anthony Torres placed 8th as well. The girls doubles team of Deborah Canales and Jaclyn Fox also medaled.

Herminia J. Rangel

TECOLOTE COMMUNITY - Herminia J. Rangel – 55 years of age passed away on March 23, 2022, peacefully at her home, with her family by her bedside. Herminia was born on July 14, 1966, in Shelby Michigan to Pablo and Ercila F. Juarez Jr. She enjoyed Crafting, sewing, painting, cooking, baking especially during the holidays. Other past times she loved was playing Chalupa, cards, and crocheting blankets, and gathering with her friends and neighbors.

Salvador R. Gonzalez “Angel”

ALICE - Salvador R. Gonzalez “Angel” passed away at the age of 67 years old on March 28, 2022, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born on September 15, 1954, in Mexico to Luz and Genoveva Ramirez Gonzalez. Angel worked in the surrounding areas as a grave digger and cemetery laborer for many years. His work history in this area starts with working for Walker-Mora Funeral Home, Roberson Funeral Home, Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home and lastly at Rosas Funeral Home. He was a hard-working man with strong ethics and was always putting everyone’s needs before his. He attended the Adult Day Care Center in Alice for numerous years. He will be remembered as a jokester and always with a great sense of humor and a great fisherman. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
