The Tuloso-Midway Cherokees' new high school freshmen and JV volleyball teams defeated the Robstown Cotton Pickers two games to none.

Playing at home, the freshmen Cherokees barely beat the freshmen Lady Cottonpickers as the final games scored came down to only one point.

It was the Tuloso-Midway freshmen that won the final set 25-24.

The JV Cherokees pulled ahead quickly against the JV Lady Cottonpickers, pulling ahead 9 point in their first set. The Cherokees won their first set 25-16.

Despite an attempted comeback by the Lady Cotton Pickers, the Cherokees kept scoring. Even after a Cherokee injury, the game ended with TM ahead, 25-14, and 2 sets to none.

"I am very excited about our team this year," said coach Melinda Hoffman. "We started the teams and already the kids are hard working and excited to practice."

Tuloso-Midway will play again Tuesday night.
